TRC Worldwide Engineering
TRC Worldwide Engineering was selected by the State of Florida Department of Management Services to provide structural restoration services and project management oversight for the two-level underground House of Representatives Parking Garage.
The aging facility had become unsafe due to widespread deterioration and moisture-related damage. TRC began with a comprehensive existing conditions survey to define the repair scope, establish budget parameters, and prepare technical specifications and bid documents.
Restoration efforts included removal of carbonated and spalled concrete on walls and beams, preparation of exposed reinforcing steel, and placement of flowable polymer-modified repair mortar. Hydrophilic urethane grout was injected to seal below-grade perimeter wall leaks, and a deflected concrete ventilation bulkhead was replaced with a lighter, more economical steel framing and sheet metal enclosure. A penetrating surface treatment with a migrating corrosion inhibitor was applied to extend the structure’s service life.
The project encompassed approximately 300 cubic feet of concrete repair, 1,850 linear feet of crack injection, and 80,000 square feet of corrosion inhibitor application, delivered within a $330,000 construction budget.
